Equipment Update

I ordered the missing DC motor mount, it should arrive by the middle of next week. ($20 with shipping - please sell two LED lightbulbs to cover the cost).

I took joystick inventory, Team 6884 has one working joystick that came with the kit. I don't expect that to be a problem.  As far as a second joystick, we will need to share Team 5321's second joystick during testing at school.  Of course, the competition game field has joysticks available so it wont impede competition.

There is also second joystick that is partially working, we may be able to work around this and use that joystick for the arm control and the good joystick for driving. We could send this back to the manufacturer after the competition since it is still under warranty. There is a third joystick that has a cut wire, it may be repairable, let me know if someone wants to help me try this.

NXT cables ordered

Three 1 meter long NXT cables have been ordered with priority mail, should arrive early next week.  Where are you planning on storing the extra cable length when the arm is not extended?

Design Pictures?

Add pics of design changes or sketches with every post. If you need school Wi-fi access to your smart phones(camera) or iPod Touch, let me know...

Someone should post lessons learned and pics of the competition!

With some help the robot is complete wired up and ready to put the program in it.

1/28/13
Kai was able to connect the arm to the hand. After that Josiah placed the arm on the robot.

1/25/13
Kai finished building the hand and
Josiah and Andrew finished building the arm. All we have to do is connect.

Josiah and Andrew finished making an arm to first level. When we get the dc motor we can make a second level.

1/23/13

Mr. Koelher saved us. We can get DC motor inhanment package or something like that.

When we were on a roll creating the arm I realized we do not have engouh dc motor so we have to change the whole design

Programming

We began to re write our programs because they would not work. Eventually we did get some working code running. We are finished with most of the other code we need to make our robot do the designated tasks. We hope that our code will not fail us, and we can push forward to the next step.

Robot

The bot is put to together and it faster then it was before(because of the new parts). Now tomorrow we will build the rest of the arm

New Kits

Today we received our new kits (Tetrix and NXT). We plan to design an insanely great robot with these new parts. Josiah wished to play "Yu-Gi-Oh", but I asked him " Do you want to spend the rest of your life playing cards with monsters or do you want to change the world?"

Hands

Me and new member Kai created two, unique graspers for the robot to use in different ways. We plan to attach them to (a) crane arm(s) for the robot to manipulate.
